Introducing urgent messaging for emergency communication

What’s your first priority in an emergency situation?

For administrators, the answer is probably obvious: Make sure your community has the information they need to stay safe. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done. Whether you need to communicate about a weather closure or a school lockdown, it can be difficult to reach everyone with everything they need to know without creating more noise than signal.

Urgent messaging on Remind is designed to help you reach your community in emergency situations. In situations where every minute counts, urgent messaging lets administrators send messages to parents and students on all available devices.

Like other communication on Remind, urgent messages are mobile-first so people can’t miss your message, no matter where they are or what they’re doing. If a recipient isn’t reachable by text message—including anyone who’s opted out of text notifications or experiencing mobile delivery errors—they’ll receive a text-to-voice call as a fallback to provide as much coverage as possible.

And to make things even easier, you can send urgent messages from your phone or computer, just like any other message on Remind—because in an emergency situation, the last thing you have time for is dealing with a complicated messaging system.
